Record Riots are a great place to sell your vinyl wares! We provide a diverse and affluent customer base for you at all of our shows. And it’s easy to get involved.Dealers, just follow the simple steps listed below and stick to our simple rules. We try and cater to our dealer base, to listen to your suggestions, to create a selling atmosphere that benefits everyone. We have great respect for those of you have run (or still run) stores or labels or one-stops…please feel free to bring creative record show promotional ideas to us! But you don’t have to be a “professional record dealer” to be part of the action (what does that mean anyhow?); rather, you can just enjoy the music, buying and selling, chatting with customers. Maybe you have a personal collection that you want to liquidate, or just a portion of your collection. Rent a table or two at one of our shows and make some cool cash. Record Riots fit perfectly into that gameplan as well. The only criteria is that you enjoy music, records, CDs…
So how do you get started selling with us?
First, decide which show you’d like to do and contact either John or Steve (see below), based on who is organizing dealers for that show. Tell us how many tables you want and what it is that you sell. The cardinal rule of our shows? Whoever pays is guaranteed a table! So consider paying in advance if you want to totally sure of having space to sell. Once you contact us by email or phone, we will contact you with payment information and verbal confirmation of your space. Feel free to communicate with us along the way. We generally will send you a pre-show email during the week of the event with last minute thoughts and reminders.
When can we get into the selling space to set up our stuff???
All of our shows try to begin dealer load-in one hour before early admission. For example, at the Brooklyn Record Riot, early admission begins at 10 AM, so dealers can get in at about 9 AM. Sometimes we do try and get you in a bit earlier, but use the one hour rule as a guideline. (Some shows have load-in DURING early admission…Hudson Valley is an example of this. Don’t be surprised if there are customers in the venue during load-in.)
Some other important (and sometimes overlooked) facts: During load-in, we position Record Riot employees near the load-in area, but we are NOT responsible for any tickets that you might get for double/illegal parking. Also, bring a handtruck because we cannot guarantee that the venue will provide them or that you will be able to easily borrow one (it is possible of course). Each dealer gets one extra badge per table to use as they wish. We do not allow bootlegs or pornography at our shows, but everything else music-related is fine. We expect you to clean up after yourselves when you vacate your space…any violation of this may result in you being not allowed at future shows. There is no smoking inside any of our Record Riot venues.
